Some Perspectives on Cat Feet
by Lee Kirk
1.
When she is content, the cat sashays
with her tail erect, tip just barely bent.
She walks as though
she owns everything under her feet.
2.
When I tap her food dish, the
cat runs into the kitchen --
her feet make a sound
like marbles rolling down a washboard.
3.
The cat observes my rules
while I am watching.
When I come home, I find
paw prints on the counters.
4.
I awaken in the night
to feel cautious paws
exploring the length
of my body.
5.
The cat recognizes
the importance of her feet:
solicitously,
she washes between each toe.
6.
A cat from down the street
moved in with my friend.
“They didn’t treat him well,” she
says, “and he voted with his paws.”
